Greetings and welcome to another travel post!

I have had such a wanderlust bug lately. Although, summertime always gives me the travel bug and I get really stir crazy. I always feel like I must pack in as much fun in the sun as possible while it lasts. Especially in the UK because the summer only last about 8 weeks or so, then its back to cooler weather the rest of the year.

Today I'm taking a trip down memory lane, and sharing one of my favorite weekend getaways I had before moving to the UK. I still daydream about how wonderful this weekend trip was!

Last summer I took a quick weekend trip up to Linville, North Carolina for the most BEAUTIFUL wedding I have ever been to in my entire life. It was outdoors in the middle of the mountains with so many flowers that it smelled like you were literally walking through the most delicious smelling garden in the entire world. It was amazing! I will never forget it.

The day after the wedding, I decided I was going to take advantage of the beautiful weather and hike Linville Falls on my way out of town. I was so incredibly happy I did, because the views from the top of the gorge were absolutely gorgeous.

The drive from the town to the falls was absolutely breathtaking. What part of the Appalachian mountains and Blueridge Parkway aren't absolutely gorgeous though?

The hike to Linville Falls is a little over a mile and a half to the two main view points from the visitors center. There is another option to do the full hike that is four miles and for the more experienced hikers.

The first view point, the upper falls. I wish I would have brought food with me to have a picnic and enjoy the views. This is the perfect spot to take a break if you are planning to do the entire four mile trail.

Continuing along, you come to the next stop, chimney view. Just a few minutes walk from here is the gorge view, and you can see all the way up and down the gorge. This was my favorite spot! I decided to end my hike here and head on to my next destination.

If you continue the hike, there is another view point just past this spot as well, Erwin's view. The falls plummet 90 feet into the basin, and if your feeling brave you can continue hiking all the way down to the bottom and enjoy the views from below!

This trip was by far one of the most beautiful mountain vacations I have been on in North Carolina, and one of my favorites.

I hope you enjoyed today's travel post! Which North Carolina waterfalls are your favorite to hike? Leave me a comment below and let me know for my next trip!
