A Day At Hitchin Lavender

Happy Monday! Lavender season is in full bloom, and I could not be more excited about it! This week I visited Hitchin Lavender and loved it so much I had to go again over the weekend. If you haven't ever been to a lavender field before, I highly suggest you find one near you and experience it for yourself. You won't regret it!

Today I thought I'd take you through my favorite way to spend the perfect, relaxing afternoon at the lavender farm. Starting with the drive up to the farm! Make sure your windows are down so you can take in the fresh smell of lavender breezing in throughout your car. Ahhhhhh.....

When you've arrived, pop into the farm shop to get a slice of honey lavender cake (my favorite!!) and a lavender lemonade. Both are absolutely delicious! If you need a bit more than a snack, they do serve hot food during the week and a selection of hot teas. On the weekends they do not serve hot food as the queue's can get quite long due to a very large amount of people coming to the farm. Order your food for take away and head over to the field to enjoy the view and aroma while you nibble! If its quite busy, I recommend bringing a picnic blanket as they only have a few tables to sit at. The farm shop also sells a wide variety of soaps, lotions, picked lavender, lavender leaves, and more! My favorite is the essential oils. The new rose lavender essential oil is my absolute favorite! It smells incredible, and it has become my favorite scent to diffuse before bed. If you love essential oils- you need this one in your life!

After eating, I love to go out into the field and walk through the lavender. There are a fair amount of bees in the fields- so just beware when your walking through if you are allergic! If you want to pick the lavender, it is £5 per person. They provide you with a bag to fill up and scissors, so no need to bring your own.

When you have sufficiently gathered enough lavender to last you for the 5 years or so (I always pick way too much!), grab your camera and get some great shots of you in the field! Everyone around you will be doing it too, so don't feel silly running up and down the rows or twirling in a cute dress and sun hat!

Before you go, walk over to the sunflowers and pick a few if you desire! These are .50p per each flower you pick. These sunflowers are literally the size of your head and tall as you! So gorgeous.
